Game Premise
Parsons, Massachusetts. You know how some people said "Don't worry, you won't remember half of these people once you graduate" back in high school? Well we're leaving whether or not that is true, up to you. Do you ever wonder how or even IF people are going to remember you? Well high school yearbooks are pretty much the set in stone way we remember our old friends, enemies, and lovers. They say that you can tell a lot about a person based on who they were in high school, so who were you? Were you the girl who just couldn’t catch a break? Or maybe the guy who just seemed to have the whole world handed to him on a plate? Have you changed since then?

Imagine being from a place like Parsons, a town so small that everyone knows each other. Your mother, father, siblings, everyone went to the same high school. Everyone knows Joey, the captain of the football team, and Jerry, the geeky kid who lives on Bristal street who says he’s going to build a space ship. So what happens years later? Does the geeky kid get his space ship? Did Joey ever marry his high school sweetheart? Are they still who they were way back when? After trying to find a different type of premade game, the idea of our game came to mind. This game is a bit different from most of the other premade games currently out there simply because the premades are based on who your character was in high school.

parsonsma is a premade game based in the fictional town of Parsons, Massachusetts. We pose the question: Who are you now? Yes, the premades are based on who you were then, but the real questions are: who are you now? Have you changed? Do you think you ever really needed to? Are you happy? Parsons is a small town that is pretty close to Boston, MA, and most of the characters [if they grew up in Parsons] would have gone to the same high school. If you would like your character to have moved to the town after high school, that is fine too. The thought of the premise came to me one day while skimming through my high school yearbook. Along with thinking back on all of the memories, good and bad, I was thinking about all of the people that I remained friends with after graduation and those who I seemed to have severed the ties with over the years. I then started to think about the random chaos some of us used to cause and about the students we all knew would be successful. After comparing how my classmates were back then, to how they are now, I have noticed that some people have changed for the better, some have changed for the worse, and some have simply remained the same. The concept of this community is that your character will be a resident in the fictional town of Parsons, Massachusetts. Their premade statement will be based on what your character was like back in high school. After deciding on a premade it is completely up to you whether or not you would like your character to have changed since high school. That information will be included in either your survey or biography.

Random / Media » whatisup - Instead of having ten different communities, we decided to combine the media posts and random posts into one community. This is where you can post anything you would like, and we will consider it a part of your activity.
The OOC Community » shutupandplay - This is where you can post anything out of character. If you don't feel comfortable posting in the OOC you can feel free to contact the Mods via PM or the dropbox.
The Storyline Community » bemyfriend - This is where you can go to develop lines with the members of the community. We know that natural interaction seems to be big these days but we figured that having this storyline community would be great to help establish how your characters interacted BACK THEN and then use it as a basis for a good line or two. It is not mandatory to post for CURRENT lines but we would like to see some PAST lines being discussed. It's up to you if the characters have the same interaction as they did back then. Wondering if the PB you had in mind would be wanted here for any kind of line? Simply join the community and post a post!
The Intro Community » hugme - This is the community that you will be required to post in within five days after being accepted into the community. If you do not post there, the Mods will assume that you are no longer interested in being a part of this community.

Rules
IC vs. OOC drama - We know that everyone’s characters will inevitably have drama. We understand that, and we actually encourage it because that is really what makes a storyline. HOWEVER, please do not mix up the two. If someone’s character does not like your character that doesn’t necessarily mean that the person PLAYING the character does not like YOU. If you do happen to have a problem with one of the other players, please let a mod know and we will try our best to help solve the situation.

Updating -If we see that your character is active in whatisup on a regular basis, that will help contribute to your activity. If your character is active in the sub communities, a long update every month or so will not be required. Due to the fact that every role player is different and has adapted to different ways of updating, we are giving our players options.

A) You could use the writing prompts that will be posted once every three weeks. We will be supplying you with four-five questions that you can answer [IC] and that could be considered your update for activity.

B) You could find a survey [either on myspace, facebook, or even come up with your own] and you could fill that out [IC] every two weeks or so, and have that count as your update.

C) You could post one or two AIM logs in your journal, whether they are filtered or not is up to you, and that will just show us that you are actually doing something with your character.

We know that life can get hectic and the last thing on your mind is updating, therefore we have come up with those options. We don’t want to people to feel as though updating is a second job and we understand that things happen, so if you cannot update for any reason please contact a mod and we will be more than happy to give you an extension.

AIM || Threading - Sadly, AIM is a semi-requirement for the community. We do not require that you spend every waking moment on your SN, but we do encourage at least being on for some time during the week. Interacting via AIM helps with the activity and it helps your characters get to know others within the community. Yes, AIM does SUCK for the most part -- whether it is eating your buddy lists, freezing the IMS, or just plain telling you that you suck at life, but we would love it if players would sign on sometimes and keep the interaction going. That being said, chats are encouraged. If you feel the spark in you and you’d like to start a group chat? Be our guest! Group chats are great and they help show the random side to any character. Threading: is something that is encouraged, however, it is not required. You are more than welcome to toss up a thread in your character's journal, and if you prefer to filter your threads, be our guests! Just remember to include the mod journal in the filter so it's shows your activity!

Applying - Obviously all that you need to do in order to apply is fill out the application. The only rule we have in regard to your journal is this: you can choose to either have a biography, a survey, or 10-15 detailed facts. Feel free to PM the mods if you have any questions about this.

AIM and Journal names - We would really appreciate if your journal name could be simple, containing a combination of your characters first and last name or one or the other. This just makes it easier for everyone else to know which journal belongs to which character. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE -- do not kill us with underscores! As for the AIM name, have fun with it! Incorporate your characters name in some way, but other than that it can be as creative as your heart desires.

Character Limit - This is where we have to crack the role playing whip. We have a character limit of two characters per person, only because we want everyone to be able to keep up with their characters. This rule is only going to be set for the first month or so of the community until everyone gets established with at least two characters. We do make exceptions if we see that you have been posting with each of your kids and keeping up with the friends page. We understand that characters randomly come to you and you want to bring someone else in to liven yourself up a bit, but we really don't want someone to play five or six people and then have none of them do anything within the community, sorry :-\ If you do play more than two characters, after being in the game for a while, and you are not active with all of them, we will remove your most inactive character. Also, we are slash/femme friendly. HOWEVER, if you are playing two or three characters, we only want one of them to be slash. The reason? Because we want the community to be somewhat even, it's nothing personal at all! There are only bans on: Gods Girls/Suicide Girls, and Myspace faces [if they are not a celeb, please let us know where they are from.]

We want you to come here and be able to just let your imagination go free and have the chance to express your creativity through a fictional character. This community was made in order to give PB’s of all kinds a place where they can come together and interact and have fun. So please, give us a shot, we promise to make it worth your while!
